Obra (Acronym for Outer Bank of Rihand Area) is a town and a Nagar Panchayat in Sonebhadra district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Obra is located 120 km from Varanasi at the Bank of Sone River with population of 52,398 As per 2001 India Census. The city which is located next to Obra is Chopan and Robertsganj which is around 12 km and 35 km respectively. Obra has two power stations: one is thermal power station and another is Hydel power station which is located near Obra Dam. It has one Thermal Training Institute for training purpose and one government Hospital. Obra has number of good schools. Obra has two big stadium Gandhi Maidan & B R Ambaedkar Stadium, two cinema hall Arti chitra mandir & Dinesh talkies and One children park.It also has four entertainment clubs. There are four Banks operating at Obra i.e. State Bank Of India, Allahabad Bank, HDFC Bank & Bank Of Baroda. Obra has one small Railway station, However reservation of tickets are issued at Chopan Railway station only as Obra doesn’t have that facility. There is One CISF Colony which is located next to power plant .
